We all face challenging situations in our lives. Each of them have a painful side and a positive side. 
Generally the painful side is the one which is immediate and is experienced by our five senses. 
The positive side is often removed ahead in time and only Faith can grasp it. 
How we experience things depends on where we fix our eyes.....on the painful or on the positive

Each one of us is born with some strengths and acquire others as we grow. Each one is born with preferences which gives us a basket of strengths which we can develop easily and those which we are not naturally inclined to do. 
The secret to develop a new strength which is needed by our job or other context is to work on them ONE at a time. Focus our attention on that one area each  day. OBSERVE whether you succeeded or failed in that area. REFLECT on why you succeeded and how to do more of it. If you failed, reflect on what caused the failure and what you can do next time to succeed. JOURNAL your observations. Do this simple exercise EVERY DAY for the next six months. You now have a new strength which has become a habit and will come to your help whenever you need to use it.

Successful people reach a plateau in their growth and development. When you look closely you find the presence of a bottleneck  which if removed, opens up new vistas of growth, development and contribution. Very often, in organisations, we do not recognise this and start making life miserable for people who have reached a bottleneck rather than helping them to discover and remove these. Helping people identify and remove bottlenecks requires less energy, is pleasant, and results in long term commitment. Scolding, directing, punishing, comes more naturally, is spontaneous and painful and at the same time results in no change and disengagement.

Coaching is a coachee led engagement.
Each person has a different aspiration and a different level of price he is willing to pay. Enabling a person to recognize and own this, takes a certain time and cannot be fast tracked.

1) Values based work: This flows from core values of integrity, respect, quality, enabling success, innovation. This takes time, slow for recognition, has lasting impact, influences people's lives, is sustainable.
2) Personality based work: This flows from need to make an impression, gain public recognition, make quick gains. Forceful speaking, manipulating, rough riding others are approach to work. This is short term, not sustainable, leaves people impoverished.
Truly successful people have a foundation of Values based work on which Personality impact is built and NOT Personality based work with a facade of Values
